A NEW, EFFECTIVE WAY TO EDUCATE YOUR LOCAL SHERIFF

Back in December 2002, I authored an article titled Support Your Local Sheriff which produced an avalanche of mail - all of it supportive, I'm happy to say. Hundreds of individuals expressed a desire to make their local Sheriff aware that he/she is the highest law enforcement officer in their county and do not owe their allegiance to the federal government or the local heavies (politicians).

The problem many faced is an uncertainty in how to approach their local Sheriff and how to present their concerns about the continued assault on our God-given right to own and carry firearms and issues such as allowing federal agents to come into a county and violate their rights. It's understandable many Americans are uncomfortable with approaching a Sheriff in this post 9-11 climate with any constitutional argument, because too many of them have become nothing more than sledgehammers for federal alphabet soup agencies operating outside the Supreme Law of the land, the U.S. Constitution.

A wonderful tool is now available that can assist in reaching every Sheriff in every county in this country. The Sheriff: Powers and Responsibilities of Elected Peace Officers is a video available from the Americans Citizens & Lawmen Association. This film contains discussions with former Sheriff and current candidate for Governor of Utah, Richard Mack. I know this honorable man who sacrificed everything to gut the so-called 'Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act.' Few people realize that court battle cost Richie everything he owned financially and put him in debt to protect your rights. He and Sheriff Jay Printz stuck with it and prevailed in a court of law against all odds and gargantuan legal bills. That's the kind of man Richard Mack is and I'm proud to call him friend.

Also on this film is a wonderful presentation by Sheriff Kenneth E. Jones who has been elected as Sheriff of Eureka County, Nevada, five times. Other articulate discussion is presented by former Sheriff Jack McLamb, Nevada rancher Wayne Hage, author of Storm Over Rangeland, former U.S. Congresswoman Helen Chenoweth-Hage and a clip from the classic documentary, Freedom in America, featuring a truly great American, Ezra Taft Benson (deceased, 1994). His little booklet, The Proper Role of Government and book, An Enemy Hath Done This, are two of the first publications I read when I first broke out of my fog in 1991 and became a freedom fighter.

Not only can you order this well done educational video, but American Citizens & Lawmen Association will mail the video to your local Sheriff for you! I ordered the video, provided ACLA with Sacramento County Sheriff Lou Blanas' name and mailing address and received a copy of the articulate and outstanding letter ACLA sent to Blanas with a copy of the video. This letter is from one law enforcement officer to the elected one in your county. That makes a difference when received by your local Sheriff. Now, how much easier can it be? There's no reason on earth anymore to delay in sending in the required, modest donation which covers the cost of the video, letter to your sheriff and mailing.

I receive no compensation for recommending this ACLA project. I seek only to let Americans know that these good folks have made it very easy to reach out and touch your local Sheriff with the truth and remind them, via presentations from Sheriffs and a former U.S. Congresswoman, about the history of freedom and about the oath they take once they're elected. There are 3,141 counties and county equivalents in the 50 States and the District of Columbia. That's not that many and since there are tens of millions of us who cherish our freedom, those 3,141 county Sheriffs could be covered in less than 30 days. Don't wait for someone else to do this - it's your responsibility to do your part and this ACLA project makes it a breeze.

For more information, contact ACLA at 1.208.935.7852. You can also send a donation of $25.00 to them directly ($20 for the video plus $5.00 for the letter to your Sheriff and mailing costs) at: American Citizens & Lawmen Association, HC 11 Box 357, Kamiah, Idaho, 83536.

I watched the former Sheriff of Waco, Texas, Jack Harwell, testify at the congressional white wash hearings. At the conclusion of his testimony, he gave those 34 house members a piece of his mind about the federal government's march into local jurisdictions. Sheriff Harwell realized too late the power he had and didn't use. Had Sheriff Harwell exercised his lawful power and forbidden the FBI and DEA - including the military in violation of posse comitatus - to come into his county, I would not have had to watch the conflagration on CNN which took place on April 19, 1993.

I did watch Mount Carmel burn to the ground that day. As I watched, I also knew I was watching almost 80 men, women and children being gassed and then burnt to death courtesy of Janet Reno with the blessing of Bill Clinton. Several years later, I purchased Waco: A New Revelation.

Never again, not in this country. I hope you will participate in this worthy effort because some day in the not too distant future, you might wish your local Sheriff had been able to watch this video from ACLA. America is truly in crisis. Our fight is for none but the brave. Your local Sheriff needs to know you will support him/her, but only if they uphold their oath. This video will help them to understand the proper role of a county Sheriff.
