THE PRAETORIAN GUARD

"The Roman praetors were first established in 367 B.C. They evolved into the Praetorian Guard that came to exercise great power, making and unmaking emperors and allowing political and military action outside of the law. What rules that were observed were announced by the issuance of edicts. The Guard was characterized by corruption and political venality and was closed down by Constantine in 312 A. D". (John Stockwell)
My recent article, The proper role of America's military, drew an extraordinary amount of e-mail. With the exception of two opposing views, it seems many Americans feel as I do - America's military is being used as the modern day version of the Roman Praetorian Guard. Because this is such a serious issue, I decided more information is needed for concerned Americans to research. One sincere man wrote in part, "Hi Devvy; Did you not learn anything from world war 11? What we did to help rebuild Germany and Japan after our victory over them , and look how it all turned out 60+yrs. later. They are safer nations now. Iraq and the middle east is a very troubled area. The cancer that is there was spread to our shores on Sept 11 2001." The second dissenting opinion stated after a very long essay, "I will pray that you stop all prejudice and use your God given abilities to search for the truth."
Prejudice? I see no prejudice in my article, only documented facts. The lessons I have learned from WWII is that we the people were had by FDR. The people of Europe should have shouted the roof down when Hitler began to emerge with his evil ambitions. The world leaders at the time should have taken every action possible, short of invading Germany, to keep Hitler from power. Instead, many of them crawled into bed with him and the results were sickening.
The U.S. Constitution says the "President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into to the actual service of the United States. He cannot declare war, that responsibility was explicitly given to Congress along with the instruction, "To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years; To make and maintain a Navy; to make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval forces."
Yet, since the Korean War and America's dangerous relationship with the Communist controlled UN, more and more our soldiers are being sent into harm's way to fight wars of "national liberation" and the hell with the Constitution. At the time of Bush's invasion of Iraq, CFR point dog in the House, Rep. Henry Hyde, [R-Il] stated that "declaring war is anachronistic, it isn't done anymore..." During the same time period, darling of the deaf, dumb and blind "liberals," Ranking Minority Member Tom Lantos, [D-Ca] called the declaration of war "frivolous and mischievous." On January 7, 1999, former Clinton Secretary of Labor, Robert Reich said, "...when the president decides to go to war, he no longer needs a declaration of war from Congress."
There is simply no justification in the U.S. Constitution for America to invade other countries, permanently install U.S. forces and jam "democracy," using brute force, down the throats of the indigenous population. I don't care what justification is used, it's still unconstitutional. Of course, this is done by robbing the people's treasury. The Marshall Plan enriched the coffers of the international banking cartel and it was unconstitutional to pick the pockets of Americans to accomplish this mass transfer of America's wealth into the coffers of European bankers. It 's also a pipe dream for anyone to think those countries are "safer now" following America foreign policy since WWII.
I highly recommend Americans read The Voices of America's Destruction. Communist China, Russia and the other "former" Soviet Bloc republics (referred to a scant decade ago as the "Evil Empire") are now America's "partners." For years, the sweat off your back has been building up their military while the people cheer on the voice's of our own destruction. All of these events are tied together. It's called "nation building" and history proves this folly to be an absolute failure, time and time again. Do the hard homework. Why didn't the U.S. invade Rwanda when massive genocide was underway? How about the Sudan, which is still involved in horrific mass genocide? This world is full of suffering, pain and evil dictators, but America cannot be the world's policeman. It hasn't worked and it never will.
Ignoring words of wisdom
It's a sad thing that in America today, people will listen to their favorite political candidate/incumbent, but refuse to listen to the words of such revered men as George Washington, known as "Father of his Country." People continue to forget the wisdom of those who birthed this Republic; they were wise beyond their years. I am compelled to once again bring forth these words from the past because they are absolutely germane to our situation today and for the past six decades. I encourage everyone to go and read Washington's full farewell address to the nation:
"Observe good faith and justice towards all nations; cultivate peace and harmony with all....In the execution of such a plan, nothing is more essential than that permanent, inveterate antipathies against particular nations, and passionate attachments for others, should be excluded; and that, in place of them, just and amicable feelings towards all should be cultivated. The nation which indulges towards another a habitual hatred or a habitual fondness is in some degree a slave. It is a slave to its animosity or to its affection, either of which is sufficient to lead it astray from its duty and its interest.
"Against the insidious wiles of foreign influence (I conjure you to believe me, fellow-citizens) the jealousy of a free people ought to be constantly awake, since history and experience prove that foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes of republican government. But that jealousy to be useful must be impartial; else it becomes the instrument of the very influence to be avoided, instead of a defense against it. Excessive partiality for one foreign nation and excessive dislike of another cause those whom they actuate to see danger only on one side, and serve to veil and even second the arts of influence on the other.
"The great rule of conduct for us in regard to foreign nations is in extending our commercial relations, to have with them as little political connection as possible...Why quit our own to stand upon foreign ground? Why, by interweaving our destiny with that of any part of Europe, entangle our peace and prosperity in the toils of European ambition, rivalship, interest, humor or caprice? ...It is our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world."
America didn't always engage in these endless "peacekeeping" missions or invading countries like Kosovo. Over the past six decades, the mind changers have been manipulating the American people through a constant barrage of propaganda and have done a fine job convincing Americans that we should give up our freedoms for the "common good" of the world. This has been done to get the American people to sacrifice their own lives and fortune for the benefit of the world masters orchestrating a one world government. It's called slave making and the transformation is almost complete.
In his book, The Praetorian Guard by John Stockwell, Americans get a stark, raw accounting of exactly what we the people have been forced to fund, not only with money robbed from the people's treasury, but with the blood of our precious military. Stockwell, Director of the CIA's Angola Task force in the 1970s, is the highest ranking officer ever to quit the agency and expose the truth of its operations to Congressional investigators. In his book, he addresses serious questions about a "new world order" that began emerging post Cold War. Stockwell explains how and why he believes that the U.S. policy of supporting "secret wars" in every corner of the globe will continue, even as the alliance between the United States and the Soviet Union, inconceivable not so long ago, continues to merge. Did the tinder-box in the Persian Gulf give the U.S. military-intelligence complex a new lease on life? Is "national security" just a cynical cover for the brutal fact that the United States has become the worlds' toughest cop, exporting military might to the highest bidder as liberty and prosperity disappear at home? Read The Praetorian Guard.
In China Doll - Clinton - Gore and the Selling of the U.S. Presidency, Dr. Roger Canfield and Richard Delgaudio succinctly and with brutal facts, present the facts about Bill Clinton's chummy friendship with the Communist Chinese and their influence on American elections. In a recent article, Facts about Iraq, Laurence M. Vance shoots straight from the hip - something not appreciated by "conservatives" anymore. They appear to need a glossed over version of history and reality. I stand by my statements in 'The proper role of our military.' What is going on in Iraq has nothing to with some vague and endless "war on terrorism" and it is an unconstitutional use of our military.
I must repeat the words of a very wise man, Ezra Taft Benson, former Secretary of Agriculture from his outstanding book, An Enemy Hath Done This (1969); a truly uncanny prediction of exactly events in the world today. While this book does appeal to folks of the Morman faith in the last 25 pages, it is a very worthy read and not being recommended to promote any religion. Pg.155:
"Already, I can hear the chorus chanting "Isolationism, isolationism, he's turning back the clock to isolationism." How many use that word without having the slightest idea of what it really means! The so-called isolationism of the United States in past decades is a pure myth. What is isolationism? Long before the current trend of revoking our Declaration of Independence under the guise of international cooperation, American influence and trade was felt in every region of the globe. Individuals and private groups spread knowledge, business, prosperity, religion, good will and, above all, respect throughout every foreign continent. It was not necessary then for America to give up her independence to have contact and influence with other countries. It is not necessary now.
"Yet, many Americans have been led to believe that our country is so strong that it can defend, feed and subsidize half the world, while at the same time believing that we are weak and "interdependent" that we cannot survive without pooling our resources and sovereignty with those we subsidize. If wanting no part of this kind of "logic" is isolationism, then it's time we brought it back into vogue."
America was once the most admired and respected nation on earth. Today we are drowning in unpayable debt to fund the UN, the IMF and "national wars of liberation," which some don't seem to mind passing along to their grand babies. Today we are hated because of a foreign policy that not only mis-uses our military, but it is being done in furtherance of cementing a one world government which is communism in its most evil form.
America can regain the respect of other nations and their people. We can engage in healthy and prosperous trade with other countries using a fair and equitable formula. We can spread good will towards all men and quit meddling in the business of other nations. They will have to take care of their own problems and I sincerely believe that if the US stops the foreign (welfare) aid and meddling, most countries will eventually fight for their own freedom. That's what will make other countries a strong nation, not one dependent upon a master. This will not happen until the American people get out of a state of denial and examine where they're being led by politicians who are not what they appear and who do not have America's best interests at heart.
